Local MSMEs urged to lead real estate boom at Zambia International Property Expo 2016 media breakfast.
Leading members of the residential and commercial real estate community gathered to meet with construction and investment stakeholders of the Zambia International Property Expo 2016 on March 2 at the Protea Hotel Towers in Lusaka. As the Official Partner, the Zambia Green Jobs Programme was joined by second time sponsors First National Bank Zambia (FNB), Zambia Property Owners Association (ZAPOA) and Knight Frank in introducing the 2016 edition of the Zambia International Property (ZIP) Expo to members of the press. The Zip Expo is organized by SmartHomes International, Jannou New York and R!evolution Media.
"The expo was founded through a ZAPOA meeting held to come up with a synergy for all the stakeholders in the sector, the suppliers, contractors and developers as a cohesive gathering. In 2015, the ZIP Expo received over 1,000 visitors and big players of the property market were very instrumental. The biggest surprise was the enthusiasm from modest segments of the community" Zip Expo Chair Mr. Christopher Jannou said in his welcoming address. He added, "According to Forbes, there are more property billionaires than any other industry. Africa is where the action is. We see endless potential especially here in Zambia. We are the fire starters, but ownership of event will the taken up by the real estate community in Zambia."
President of ZAPOA, Robin Miller stated it is in the interest of Zambia we grow our sector. He then sought to foster a relationship with the Government of Zambia for inclusive and well-informed decisions. "Sometimes we develop things which go wrong at a later stage because we didn't think about the basis at an earlier stage, which is an important process."
Guest of Honour and Minister of Transport, Works, Supply, and Communication Hon. Yamfwa Mukanga, stated that "Smart Zambians can make good return on the property market", echoing the "For Us, By Us" slogan of the launch. He informed the audience that, detailed in the Revised Sixth National Development Plan, objectives are aligned and being achieved through the established road network and tax reform.

Second time sponsor FNB Zambia, represented by Mr. Yokonia Ngoma Head of Commercial and Business Banking, said he looked forward to the prospects and outcomes of the 2016 ZIP Expo.
